One of the problems smokers face is that fact that they see people smoking everywhere. Many of their freinds and family might smoke and do so in front of the person trying to quit. Then you go into shops and you see them for sale. It can feel like there's no escape.
If you feel like cigarettes are "staring you in the face" and that temptation is too difficult to resist, you need to get yourself out of that situation. Go for a walk, make a cup of tea or do a jigsaw puzzle. Anything that will keep your mind off cigarettes. Also, try to hang out more with non-smokers rather than smokers.
Another problem people face is the questionning about why you are giving up. They might mean well, but it could be something you would rather not talk about. Perhaps you need to think about why you are giving up and sum it up into one sentence. So if you're asked, you know exactly what to say. If they start asking more questions then just say you'd rather not talk about it. Anyone who cares about you will understand and want you to do well. If they make fun of you for quitting then they really aren't proper friends.
Then of course, the problem that every smoker who wants to quit is what method to choose. There are just so many products to help you quit smoking such as nicotine gum, patches and inhalers along with other techniques such as hypnosis and acupuncture. Spending a bit of time trying to understand why you smoke might help you decide upon the method of quitting. For instance, if you jus like to have something to do with your hands, you might want to go down the route of an inhaler.
